Fall Programs for Adults

As the weather cools, resist the urge to dive into hibernation mode, and instead shine some light on your creative spirit! 

Thanks to the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Community, Arts Education grant and legislative appropriate from the Arts and cultural Heritage funds, we are partnering with regional artists, writers and performers to offer an assortment of creative opportunities for adults this fall.

Perspective Drawing Class For teen to adults beginner to intermediate artists, taught by Diamond Knispel.   Tuesday October 18, 25 and November 1, 8, 15,22 7-8:30 pm $10 per session, preregistration requested.  Fee is $55 if you pre-register for all 6 sessions.

Dabble and a Splash: An afternoon of painting with regional artist, Kitty Ballard. We provide painting supplies and snacks. You bring your friends, a bottle of wine, and your creative energy!  2-5 pm Sat 11/5   $40

Poetry Slam Come to be part of the audience, or enter to win cash prizes as a Poetry Slam contestant.  Be prepared to perform up to 3 original poems.  Cash prizes for top 3 winners!   7 pm Thursday, October 27, Toddy’s Pub and Grub

Headwaters Writers Initiative: Take part in an advanced individual conferences part of an on-going development of the advanced writers’ community with the goal of publication as well as potential reading performance.  Widely published poet and professor Carol Ann Russell will accept projects of memoir, poetry or fiction for close review followed by one-on-one conference.        

Intro to Encaustic Art: Regional artist Terry Honstead will teach this mixed media art form. Perhaps the most beautiful of all artists’ paints, encaustic paint is a versatile as any 21st century medium.  Chose either the Friday evening or Saturday morning session.  Materials and equipment will be provided. 5-9 pm Fri 11/11 OR Sat 11/12   $50
