Arts Program
The Headwaters Arts Program includes group classes for visual art, pottery, literary arts, and music for pre-k to adults. Our programming changes throughout the year, but we always strive to provide high quality arts experiences to our community. In an effort to make or programming accessible to all, we offer financial assistance for all of our classes - learn more on our scholarships page.

Pottery
Always wanted to try your hand at the potter's wheel? Need a quick refresher on that ceramics class you took in high school? Whether you’re just curious about clay or want to further your skills, pottery classes in Headwaters relaxed, collaborative studio are open to you.
The Adult Pottery Program
Mondays 6-8pm or Wednesdays 5-7pm
This year-round, open-studio-style program is for all skill levels and includes individualized instruction and supervision. Participants can expect to practice using coil, slab, and pinch methods, learn paint and glaze techniques, and receive an introduction to wheel throwing. A subscription to the Adult Pottery Program gives participants access to monthly social gatherings with other members and to the program’s Open Pottery hours. Open Pottery is a self directed time in the Headwaters’ Pottery Studio when participants can practice techniques. While no formal instruction is provided during this time, volunteer studio hosts are present to give support and encouragement.
Pottery Classes
Throughout the year we offer shorter-term pottery classes with different projects or techniques as their focus. Learn how to make bird baths, outdoor planters, or join the popular Pottery & Pints class to learn how to glaze pre-made pottery items while enjoying food, beverages, and good company!
After School Art Clubs
Headwaters Music & Arts holds after school art clubs for youth in grades K-12. The clubs offer weekly visual art experiences for students from September through May.
Young Artist Club | Grades K - 4
This year's Young Artist Club focuses on the 7 Elements of Art: color, line, shape, value, form, texture and space. We will learn different styles of art and learn about famous artists whose work emphasizes these elements. The goal is to help each child explore different mediums and styles to find the artist in themselves and what type of art really speaks to them. Club members will be able to lead art projects and help decide some of the projects we will be doing.
Manga Art Club | Grades 5 - 12
Manga Art Club is designed to immerse students in the rich, dynamic world of Japanese style comic art, focusing on developing skills in illustration, storytelling, and character design. Participants explore fundamental techniques such as line work, shading, and composition. The curriculum emphasizes both individual creativity and community building, encouraging students to create their own manga stories while also learning to critique, appreciate and share their works with their peers.
Youth Pottery | Grades 2 - 12
Youth Pottery gives students in grades 2-12 the opportunity to explore pottery techniques. There are two weekly date and time options: 4-5:30pm on Mondays and 5-6:30pm on Tuesdays, October through May. Students practice using coil, slab, and pinch methods, learn paint and glaze techniques, and receive an introduction to wheel throwing.
