Final rock show performance for family and friends scheduled for Saturday, December 17
all happening at Headwaters Music & Arts

Headwaters Music & Arts kicks off the fall with their first school year Rock Band program. An extension of Headwaters’ very successful Rock Band Boot Camp held this summer, the program is a ‘group performance’ class for musicians ages 10 to 16. Held seasonally with three 6 class blocks to choose from, participants will meet up on alternating Sundays, 1-3:30pm at Headwaters (519 MN Ave NW, Bemidji). The fall block will start October 2 and end December 11 with a final rock show performance for family and friends scheduled for Saturday, December 17.

Headwaters Rock Band is a program for young musicians who want to learn how to play and perform in a live band by actually doing it! Led by local musicians Lisa Dixon and Casey Rasmussen, the class will cover everything from chord progressions, counting bars, and song sections to exactly how gigging musicians communicate and come alive with their fellow bandmates in a live setting. This will be a fun and exciting chance for aspiring performers to learn the basics of playing rock and pop music. Let’s take the music out of our bedrooms and onto the stage!

Headwaters has a limited number of instruments and amplifiers available for participants to use. Headwaters will provide keyboards and a drum kit, however for all other equipment participants should reach out to Headwaters to make arrangements in advance of the class if they do not have their own. The cost to attend the fall block of Rock Band is $180 per participant with limited financial assistance available. Space is limited, advance registration is required.

No Bow Tie Live in Concert @ Headwaters Music & Arts
Oct 14 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Headwaters Music & Arts welcomes Kansas based John and Myra Svoboda of No Bow Tie to their stage in Bemidji (519 MN Ave NW) for a live performance Friday October 14 at 7pm.

No Bow Tie is a project by career guitarist and instructor John Svoboda. Prior to No Bow Tie Svoboda released eight albums before creating the project with the goal to steal classical music from the purists and infuse it with creative rebellion, in what has been coined “musical blasphemy.” Free from formality, John “No Bow Tie” Svoboda and his conspirators have gone on a musical rampage. Armed with unmatched creative energy and mastery of their instruments, no famous classical composer or composition is safe. Classical music infused with a fun, creative, rebellious groove!

The concert is open to the public and is free will donation. Folks can find out more about Headwaters music events and other programming at HeadwatersMusicAndArts.org
