Portraits are a great way to learn drawing technique. The face holds many facets and many drawing skills can be learned while trying to capture them. Learn shading and gradation, focus on perspective, and capture reality in gray scale in this latest drawing class at Headwaters Music & Arts. This 4 session workshop well be led by Diamond Knispel, a professional artist who started her career as a pencil portrait artist.
Diamond is a local artist who uses many different mediums to try to capture what it is to be human. Diamond learned how to draw from creating portraits while in middle school and perfected her style through her teens and early twenties. These days she puts more emphasis on painting the human face on canvas, but she credits her early work in pencil for her understanding of human features. She says “learning how to draw with pencil is a great way to learn how to see the world as it really is and that is the first step to being a great artist.”
This class will teach you how to draw by focusing on the human face. Students will walk away with a penchant for portraits as well as the pencil. If you are beginner who has been doodling on your paper for a few years imagining what might be next this is it. This class will be challenging but you will be shocked at how much you are able to see and create after the four classes.
