Many paintings begin with a drawing or a sketch, our latest watercolor class will begin the same way. Join local artist and experienced painter, Mary Therese, as she works with students to strengthen their skills through a series of exercises based on the teachings of the famous New York’s Art Students’ League, Kimon Nicolaides, who focused on mastering the key concepts: contour, gesture, weight and structure. Develop your skills in drawing for the first three weeks of the session. Second 3 weeks will be spent working with watercolor, using your drawing experiences to “…carry you forward into painting in a natural way.”
Mary Therese, a full-time professional artist for over 25 years, has received two fine art degrees in painting, printmaking and art education. She works as a surface designer painting on fabric, as well as creating large wall murals, often involving community members.
The workshop will be held Wednesdays, 6:00 – 8:00pm, over the course of six weeks starting March 13th and going until April 17th.
The cost to attend $140 ($130 for members of Headwaters). All levels of experience, 18 and older (RSVP Required. Limited number of spots available).
