Headwaters Music & Arts will host the curated exhibit Herstory: Celebrating Women’s History Month during the month of March. The exhibit, curated by local artist Paul Swenson, celebrates women and women artists in particular.
March was declared National Woman’s History Month in 1987 and since then has been a time to celebrate individual women of historical importance, groups of women of historical importance, and women in general and their importance in history. Swenson says of the exhibit “Women have generally been written out of history and when mentioned are usually portrayed in stereotypical roles. With this exhibit we celebrate women and women artists in particular.” The exhibit will feature art from thirteen local artists.
The public is invited to the First Friday opening reception from 4 to 6 pm on March 2nd, there is no cost to attend. The exhibit will be up for the month of March.
