On Friday September 20th, Headwaters Music & Arts opened its doors to the community for an open-house-style Fall Kick-off, with a Renaissance theme. Old friends and new visitors alike were welcomed in to explore our programs and meet our staff, dressed in themed costumes and ready to share their passion for music and art.
Those who attended were tasked with completing a Quest to explore the Headwaters ‘Realm’. They bravely visited all 5 stations listed on their quest card, including the Performance Hall, the Art Studio, the Pottery Studio and the Rock Band/ Group Music Area. Once their card was filled in, the quest was complete and they could claim a prize of flavored honey sticks, generously provided to Headwaters by Lakeland Bees of Laporte, MN.
In addition to the Quest, there were plenty of activities for visitors to participate in. People took photos in front of a beautiful backdrop painted by local artist Shannon Stormy Reyes, with period costume items supplied by Bemidji Community Theater. Delicious meals were offered by local food truck Mac in the Box, and live music was provided by Headwaters students and instructors. Face painting and Manga portraits were also on offer, and to top it all off, we got a visit from Sheba the miniature pony.
It was an evening of fun, celebrating the creative community that thrives here at Headwaters Music & Arts, and it wouldn’t have been possible without our teachers, staff, community partners, volunteers and participants. A royal thanks to all – Huzzah!
