Headwaters Production Club
Headwaters Music & Arts announces the start of its latest program for teens with the commencement of Headwaters Production Club. Thanks to funding from Region 2 Arts Council and the customers of Beltrami Electric through Operation Round Up® Headwaters is able to offer up this free intro to video and audio production for teens, ages 13-18. The club will be lead by Headwaters very own Marketing Coordinator of 4 years, Diamond Knispel. Along with her graphic design/ fine art background Diamond brings her decade+ of video and audio production experience to the club.
Headwaters Production Club will learn how take an original concept and build it up from start to finish including capturing footage/creating content, editing, and distribution and marketing all while learning the basics of editing software and technology. Diamond will introduce the group to free production software for editing video, audio, and graphics and teach participants how to use different equipment to capture the best quality footage for their projects. As a storyteller herself Diamond will ask participants to view the world through a storytellers lens as she works with the students to create their production. The club will also draw from Bemidji’s arts and production community, as teens work with and learn from other local video, audio, and music producers. Production Club runs Sept. – May, during which time participants will work to develop their final project. The group will meet at least once a month and work on assignments in between sessions. Meeting 6-8 on Thursdays, the first meeting of the club will be on Thursday September 23. Other dates include Oct. 21, Nov. 19, Dec. 16, Jan. 20, Feb. 17, March 24, April 21, and May 19.
Headwaters has a few laptops on hand for participants to use but supply is limited. It is strongly suggested that participants bring their own laptop and storage device (i.e. SD, USB) to each session. Participants will need to have access to a laptop or desktop to create their projects when not in class. Production Club takes place at Headwaters Music & Arts (519 MN Ave NW, Bemidji). The club is free but space is limited. You are required to read and sign the Art Program Policies when attending any Headwaters Art Program.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota, through a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
