Youth Community Band

Headwaters Music & Arts invites Bemidji area brass, woodwind and percussion players to take part in a new youth community band. Youth ages 7-18 and their parents or guardians are invited to an organizational meeting and first rehearsal at 6pm Monday, November 6th at Headwaters Music & Arts, 519 Minnesota Ave NW in Bemidji.

Directed by Craig Haugen, the group will rehearse every other Monday, November-May, to prepare for several performances during the year. The goals for this group are to build ensemble and performance skills and experience the fun and camaraderie of rehearsing and performing as a group. All skill levels welcome, with a pre-requisite of one year of lessons.

Craig Haugen has taught privately through the public school system and Bemidji State University. He is a free-lance musician and performs in local bands, Pelican Railroad and CrossWater. He received his degree in Instrumental Education from Bemidji State University, and has taught guitar, ukulele and all band instruments for over 30 years.

Those interested in taking part but unable to attend the first meeting and rehearsal are asked to contact Headwaters at 218.444.5606 before November 6th.
