Headwaters Open Mic & CoffeeHouse is a welcoming, supportive community for musicians and spoken-word performers. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to sign up for a 10-minute or 2-song set. Taking place on the first Fridays of the month at 7:00pm, September through June, this fun, family-friendly event offers a relaxed environment for folks to listen and perform. We encourage local musicians, singers, and spoken word performers to join us at Headwaters Music & Arts, located at 519 MN Ave NW, Bemidji.
Coffee and treats are available for purchase during the evening courtesy of Apple Blossom Village.
How does it work?
Open Mic is a volunteer-led community event. Performers can sign-up in advance by sending an email to John Henningsgaard - jjhgaard@gmail.com - or in person beginning at 6:30pm that night. Admission is $4 per person, or $10 for families. Each Open Mic night is led by a volunteer Emcee, volunteers collect admission money at the door, and they help set-up and clean-up the performance hall. A core group of community members works throughout the year to secure featured performers and assure we have sufficient equipment and supplies.
If you'd like to get involved in Open Mic - helping with set-up and clean-up, serving as host/emcee, or running sound - just give us a call at 218-444-5606 or contact John at the email above.
