Headwaters CoffeeHouse welcomes the new year with an open-mic gathering Friday, January 3, 7pm, at Headwaters Music & Arts in Bemidji. Sign-up begins at 6:30 or by email to jjhgaard@gmail.com.

Lost River Band will appear as this month’s featured performers. With 2019 Bemidji Sings! winner, Kari Grace, on vocals, Jay Forney on guitar and banjo, and Jeff Anderson on accordion, Lost River Band delivers a unique Americana sound.

Lost River Band came together in Bemidji over the last several years. Forney and Anderson arrived from Thief River Falls and Wilmington, Delaware, respectively; Grace from the Cities. “Playing with Lost River Band allows me the chance to make art,” Forney noted. “We use music as paint.”

Held on the first Friday of most months, the CoffeeHouse offers a supportive and family-friendly open-mic opportunity for musicians and spoken-word performers. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to sign up for a 10 to 15 minute set.

Admission is $3 per person or $7 for families. Coffeehouse fare is available for purchase.
